Izabelle “Izzy” French is a transfeminine artist (improviser, musician, composer, writer) and researcher based in Boorloo. Her work is varied in media and approach, exploring the bounds of play, interpretation, and perception within musical performance. Izzy is a fixture of the local music scene, engaging with shows and companies such as Outcome Unknown, Tone List, Noizemaschin!!, Tura New Music and the Fremantle Biennale. She co-produces experimental music festival WWIM and fantasy-themed festival Wizardfest; she performs in post-rock outfit Parclo, in the comedy duo The Dexie Chicks, and releases solo experimental noise music as onetwotwofour through local label Burnt Seed Records. She is currently undertaking a PhD at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts interrogating ludic approaches to holistic music performance.
