In the trades, there is something called scope creep. You begin a task and realise that it’s intimately interlocked with a dozen other tasks. Izzy French is the performative version of that. Each assessment gives way to another possible thing that Izzy may do. I thought Izzy would frog march through the audience. Willfully embodying the energy of a two year old who would very much like to push something over. I was then led to believe that the spatial limits of the room may be brought into question, under a hazy ambient loop of found sounds and skewed words. A re-representing of social life as a dopamine fuelled loop in an excellent game. My current impression is that it’s all been a ruse. That leaving an ambiguous aftershock may have been part of the plan. I expect that in the final analysis, it’s just jazz hands and the words “Izzy French – Turtles all the way down”.
